Parkinson’s UK is the charity that drives better care, treatments and quality of life for those affected by Parkinson’s. Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world.
We have a UK-wide network of friendly local advisers and each covers a different local area. We can assist whether a person has the condition themselves, is a carer, friend or family member of someone with Parkinson’s or is an agency involved with the care of someone affected by Parkinson’s.
We can help if someone:
We are here so that no-one has to face Parkinson’s alone.
We also wanted to take this opportunity to share some information about our programmes for those who are newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
First Steps is our online programme for people recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s and their family, friends and supporters. This runs over three sessions and we run groups throughout the year.
Newly diagnosed welcome sessions are a way to meet others newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s and find out more about the support we offer. These offer a chance to share diagnosis experiences and connect with others who have also been recently diagnosed. There’s an introduction to our support and how to access it. This is a one-off session lasting an hour and a half.
Newly diagnosed webinars give the chance to find out more about different aspects of living with Parkinson’s and ask any questions. These free live webinars throughout the year on different aspects of being newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Webinar dates and times are announced 4 weeks before the event.
A guide to living well with Parkinson’s is our online guide that is suitable for people newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s and their families and friends. The guide can be accessed immediately, so can be used by anyone who may be waiting to access our other online support options. The guide is split into 3 parts and can be completed in their own time, and at their own pace.
